Blackout

Blackout

Goal: score points, control the rising pressure and avoid reaching 100%, because that causes an immediate Blackout and ends the game.

The game consists of up to 12 rounds of 3 darts. In each round, you must hit the currently indicated sector.

Hit scoring:

  • Single = 1 point,
  • Double = 2 points,
  • Treble = 3 points,
  • Single Bull = 1 point,
  • Double Bull = 2 points.

The targets are:

20 → 19 → 18 → 17 → 16 → 15 → 14 → 13 → 12 → 11 → 10 → Bull

In sector rounds, you can score points by hitting the indicated number as a Single, Double or Treble. The final round is played on the Bull.

The key element of the game is the Pressure meter. You start at 0%, and every missed dart increases Pressure by 20%.

  • 3 hits = Pressure is reduced by half,
  • 2 hits = Pressure +20%,
  • 1 hit = Pressure +40%,
  • 0 hits = Pressure +60%.

Pressure cannot drop below 0% or rise above 100%.

A perfect 3/3 round is the only way to reduce Pressure. Your current Pressure level is cut in half, allowing a strong round to bring the situation back under control.

Every missed dart increases the danger again. The higher your Pressure, the closer you are to a Blackout, so even a single miss can become important later in the game.

If Pressure reaches 100%, an immediate Blackout occurs and the game ends regardless of how many rounds remain.

If you survive all 12 rounds without reaching 100% Pressure, the game ends normally.

Blackout primarily rewards accuracy, consistency and the ability to control rising pressure. The best score requires not only scoring points, but also avoiding chains of mistakes that can end the game very quickly.
