Risk Zone

Risk Zone

Goal: score as many points as possible by balancing safe hits with risky attacks on heavily rewarded Trebles.

The game consists of 12 rounds of 3 darts. In each round, you have 3 attempts at the currently indicated sector.

Hit scoring:

  • Single = 1 point,
  • Double = 2 points,
  • Treble = 5 points.

Treble receives a special Risk Bonus +2. Its base value of 3 points is therefore increased to 5 points for every successful Treble hit.

The targets are:

20 → 19 → 18 → 17 → 16 → 15 → 14 → 13 → 12 → 11 → 10 → 20

In each round, a Single, Double or Treble of the indicated sector scores points. Hitting a different number counts as a miss.

Miss penalty: every dart that misses the required sector costs −5 points.

Attacking the Treble can therefore produce a high score, but a failed attempt can quickly reduce your total. You can play more safely by aiming at the larger part of the sector or take more risk by attacking the smaller Treble.

Examples of one round:

  • 3 × Single = 3 points,
  • 3 × Double = 6 points,
  • 3 × Treble = 15 points,
  • Treble + 2 misses = 5 − 10 = −5 points,
  • 3 misses = −15 points.

Risk Zone trains risk management, Treble accuracy and the ability to choose between safe scoring and aggressive attacking. A high score requires not only successful Trebles, but also limiting costly misses.

The game ends after all 12 rounds have been played. The maximum score is 180 points.
